Universal Robots Application Programming Tips
Learn from our Collaborative Robotics specialists, who have years of experience programming cobots.
Before diving into programming the task that the robot will perform, it is a good idea to take a step back and think about what it will be useful for the robot to “know.” The robot knows nothing about its surroundings, and so cannot move with respect to your machines or other application features; it only knows where it is in reference to itself: the base coordinate system.
Because URs are easy to program and use, people will often jump straight into programming the application because they know how the application has been running (either with a previous machine or with operators). However, if they neglect to think about how the UR will perform vs the previous method, this will cause frustration and loss of time.
